Brief History
The department was established in the year 1984 at the P.G. level. Home Science is an interdisciplinary field of study. To meet the challenge at global level status of Home Science / curriculum has reviewed and updated by adding multidisciplinary Art and Science of living. It deals with Food and Nutrition, Resource Management , Clothing and Textile, Human Development and Extension Education.
Vision
The vision of Home Science education is to empower women for better quality of family and community. If a family is developed it extends helps to social and economic development. Thus, contributing to the betterment of the nation and world as a fraternity.
Mission
Our mission is to empower young women to be economically independent, having satisfactory life.
Objectives
1. To prepare them to meet challenge at macro level like problems of population, violence, gender inequality, environmental problems, economic issues related to food production.
2. To prepare them to meet challenges at micro level which includes family, the household, the people, and individuals in the family specially women and children.
3. To prepare them for professional skills .
4. To motivate them to work hard and become economically independent.
5. To create self confidence and prepare them with leadership quality .
6. The individual, family and community are the foci of Home Science.
7. The discipline of Home Science in the integrated body of knowledge which is essential to enhance the quality of life.
