A significant development took place in the university department of mathematics at the turn of the last century. The Department which was confined to the tradional mathematics of the curriculum incorporated certain short term courses in computer science and its applications. After essential formalities of approval by the bodies of the University, PGDCA and DIC courses were introduced. The first batch of students were admited for the session 2002-03 under self Financing scheme. Impressed with the successful conduct of the courses in computer science and its applications the university decided to establish its computer centre in the University Department of Mathemacs for which a grant of Rs. Twenty Lacs was sanconed and released by the U.G.C. during the 10th plan period. on the suggestions of the U.G.C. itself the Department decided to intoduce M.C.A. teaching programme in its curriculum with the laboratory support of the computer centre of the University. Thus came into existence of M.C.A. teaching programme in the University Department of Mathematics and the first batch of students were admied in the session 2007-08. The MCA teaching programme of the University on the recommendaons of UGC is duly approved by all the bodies of the University including the senate.

 

The Director of the MCA teaching programme at its inception in 2007 was Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh of the Department with Dr. Ganesh Kumar as Chairman and Dr. Bidyapa Kumar as its co-ordinator. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh is the presently Head of the Department of Mathematics who is also the Director of the MCA course .
