Brief History of Department

The present department of chemistry was founded in 1953 at L.S. College, Muzaffarpur. It was then an integrated department of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Later on post graduate department was bifurcated and shifted to the present building in 1979.

The department has privileged to produce alumnus who are at present serving in reputed institutions of the country and abroad. Some of the faculty members of the department had to privilege to work in the reputed institution at abroad.

Under UGC development grant Department has instrumentation facilities like FTIR, UV vis., HPTLC ,gas chromatography, flame photometer, colorimeter and may other instruments. However, in the absence of micro-analysts, these  instruments have not been exploited by teachers as well as research scholars. But at present we are working hard to remove these problems.

The department is also privileged in producing NET- JRF students almost every year.
